The starting point for scripting in GH was the selected design from assignment one - a sort of agglomeration of coloured boxes, dangling from the stage gantry structure (so as to be out of the way) and with various lights, speakers and such...
I first wanted just to model some boxes, using one of the many precedent scripts found on the searchable knowledge base. This one was based on the image mapping tool, but wasn't what i was looking for.

And then a distributed row of boxes around some curves
Not hugely impressive but Rome wasn't built in a day. The source curves around which the boxes are distributed cam from a spherical surface so I pursued the idea of re-orienting the boxes so that they were all normal to that surface. Then i applied some 'jiggle'. The following three images show increasing amounts of random jiggle to mix things up a bit:
